Report: Edge's WrestleMania 36 Plans Revealed On WWE Raw
On this day I see clearly...
Jan 28, 2020
Just under nine years after retiring, WWE Hall Of Famer Edge returned as an active performer at the Royal Rumble. The Rated-R Superstar entered at #21 and made it to the final three, eliminating AJ Styles, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins before being tossed out by Roman Reigns.
The Ultimate Opportunist then returned to Monday Night Raw at the end of last night's episode. He cut a promo in which he described how he got medically cleared and said he now plans to end his career on his terms.
Randy Orton then made his way to the ring and thanked Edge for helping him with his destructive personality when they were younger. The Viper then asked his former tag team partner what if Rated-RKO got back together one more time.
Then, as the crowd erupted in celebration, Orton struck and dropped the returning star with an RKO.
As Edge lay helpless in the ring, Orton placed his head inside a steel chair as he prepared to break his neck. Once he was serenaded with "You Suck" chants, The Apex Predator thought better of himself and removed Edge's head from the chair. He then headed to the back.
Orton's destructive personality overcame him, however, and he ran back to the ringside area and tossed two chairs into the squared circle. The former WWE champion then placed his former partner's head on a chair and delivered a Con-Chair-To as the show went off the air.
The events of last night's episode seemingly confirm The Rated-R Superstar's plans for WrestleMania 36. Yesterday,
Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radiothat WWE was planning to have Edge face Orton at The Showcase Of The Immortals and The Ultimate Opportunist will be out for revenge once he returns.
For the avoidance of doubt, Meltzer said: "Edge is wrestling Randy Orton."
