Back at Backlash 2020, Randy Orton and Edge faced off in The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever. The Viper ultimately cheated to pick up the win but the two Superstars have been unable to continue their rivalry as Edge tore his triceps during the match.

Dave Meltzer previously reported WWE planned to have the two Superstars settle their feud at WrestleMania 37 in an I Quit match. The company even considered having the match be for the WWE Championship at one point, but Drew McIntyre retained the title against The Apex Predator at SummerSlam with a Backslide.

Meltzer provided an update on WWE's plans in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. He noted the company is now having second thoughts about the match and there is no longer a "100 percent clear main event direction" for The Showcase Of The Immortals.

WWE has plenty of time to plan the main event, however. WrestleMania 37 is still six months away and is currently scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on March 28, 2021.
