Elements of the black-and-gold-brand era are expected to return to WWE NXT following Triple H's appointment as head of WWE creative.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the belief within WWE is that NXT's product will "revert back somewhat to Levesque's previous vision of it." It is believed that WWE will continue to look at signing athletes but the developmental brand will be more open to using experienced wrestlers on the Tuesday night show. NXT will also be open to bringing in "better wrestlers who weren't as big or as good looking as McMahon wanted on the roster."

NXT was very much viewed as the work rate brand within WWE prior to Triple H stepping away due to heart issues in September of 2021. The developmental brand then underwent a revamp as NXT 2.0 and the show has placed a greater emphasis on pushing over-the-top characters on Tuesday nights, with the likes of Axiom, Giovanni Vinci, and Tony D'Angelo being just a few examples.

Shawn Michaels has been in charge of the day-to-day running of NXT since Triple H's heart issues and there is expected to be greater synergy between developmental and the main roster due to their longtime friendship.

Triple H was appointed as head of WWE creative on Monday following Vince McMahon's retirement from the company.
