Further details have emerged about Cain Velasquez's arrest on Monday, February 28.

According to TMZ, Velasquez was arrested on an attempted murder charge. The 39-year-old remains in custody and he will appear in court tomorrow.

San Jose Police previously announced that a shooting had taken place at 3:14 pm in Morgan Hill, California on Monday. An adult male was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while a suspect had been taken into custody. The motives behind the shooting, nor the circumstances are known.

Santa Clara County Jail records note Velasquez was booked in on Monday and he is not allowed bail.

A first-degree attempted murder conviction in California could lead to Velasquez being sentenced to life in prison.

After a career in MMA, Velasquez turned his attention to professional wrestling. He was previously signed with WWE but he was released by the company in April 2020 after only one match, a WWE Title contest against Brock Lesnar in Saudi Arabia.

Velasquez has also competed for AAA and he returned to the promotion in December of 2021.
