Months after he disappeared from WWE TV following WrestleMania 37, Bray Wyatt was shockingly released by WWE on July 31, 2021.

According to Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast, Wyatt was "being difficult" prior to his release and the company believed the two-time Universal Champion had "some performance issues" and "some weight issues."

Zarian said: "I have some more information about his release. I want to be careful with this. I'm not even gonna allude to where it came from or who told me this. I would say that this is probably one of the most legitimate people I've spoken to that that would be able to address this."

"Bray was being difficult," he continued. "I'm gonna fill in a lot, I'm not even gonna quote here because I have the quote [and] I don't wanna quote it. He was a little difficult. He had some performance issues in the ring and he had some weight issues and I'm not saying that's a reason but you kind of piece things together as to the things when you evaluate a talent and you're like we need this, we need that and this is the plan moving forward... sometimes the decision is easier to make if you make it more difficult for them to make that decision.

"There's so many different variables. There is no one reason, by the way. Let me just put it out there. Financial yes, there was a financial issue. There were plenty of other scenarios here. I don't think he was happy and I would tell you that these decisions are not cut and dry."

Former WWE Writer Freddie Prinze Jr. has previously revealed that creative issues between WWE and Wyatt led to the 34-year-old being released by the company. Sources close to Wyatt also noted following his release that he was "100 percent healthy and able to wrestle."
