Report: Backstage News On Kalisto's WWE Release
The former United States Champion was let go on April 15

Kalisto's eight-year run with WWE came to an end a couple of weeks ago and the former United States Champion was released along with nine other Superstars on April 15.
Further details about Kalisto's release have emerged courtesy of Fightful Select. The luchador reportedly floated around the possibility of becoming a free agent back in 2019. His WWE contract was due to expire in the summer of 2020 but the former NXT Tag Team Champion ultimately opted to re-sign with the company in January 2020 and he remained under contract until his release.
Kalisto mentioned backstage later that year that he wanted to become a singles star and this seemingly ties in with him requesting his removal from the Lucha House Party faction. Recent reports noted the luchador had been asking to be removed from the group for a while but was constantly told no. WWE eventually agreed, though, after Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik asked if they could remain a tag team, and the company went ahead with the split ahead of last year's draft.
The two-time United States Champion wasn't featured on TV as a singles Superstar following the split and he only made two appearances in battle royals before his release on April 15.
