In a match that was filled with interference from The Outcasts and saw an exposed turnbuckle pay dividends, Toni Storm defeated Jamie Hayter to regain the AEW Women's World Championship in one of the headline matches at Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 28.

Many expected a title change to take place at the pay-per-view as it was revealed ahead of the May 17 edition of AEW Dynamite that Jamie Hayter was dealing with an injury that meant she wasn't able to compete on that show. It subsequently emerged that Hayter had suffered a legitimate injury and Double or Nothing proved to be her first match since mid-April.

Fightful Select has since reported there was concern that Hayter wouldn't be able to wrestle at Double or Nothing and the pay-per-view clash was booked with plenty of shenanigans after it became clear the champion wouldn't be able to work a full match.

Hayter has established herself as one of AEW's most-popular talents over the past several months and she has been presented as one of the promotion's top stars. That won't be changing when she returns to the ring, with Fightful further noting that Hayter is "expected to remain in a top level push upon her return."

The nature of Hayter's injury and how long she will be out of action for is unknown. Many fans will be hoping she can return in time for All In on August 27, with the show set to emanate from Wembley Stadium in London, England.
