Renee Paquette has spoken about the time WWE cancelled her scheduled interview with John Cena at the last minute.

Prior to working with WWE, Paquette was a host with The Score, a Canadian sports channel, where she presented a wrestling show called Right After Wrestling.

The interviewer, at 22-years-old, had a chance to chat with John Cena in a huge scoop for the channel, but Paquette has recalled how WWE changed their mind and pulled the interview just moments before it was due to start.

Paquette had just shown the company her questions and believes the nature of some of them may have been the reason why.

Speaking to Behind The Rose, she said: "John Cena was coming in to do an interview and at this time, I was really trying to get my own sh*t in and thinking I was funny and was making the segment more about my humor than the actual person.

"I was talking about stuff that he could not give a sh*t about. I shouldn't say he didn't care because I didn't even get to do the interview. We're standing in the studio and Adam Hopkins, PR for WWE, he was looking over my questions and as we're counting in they were like, 'Never mind, got it' and they cancelled the interview.

"I don't know if I've ever talked to John about that. I was just dumb, I was a 22-year-old and didn't know what I was doing."

Paquette would end up joining WWE in 2012, working as a host, interviewer and commentator up until her departure in 2020.
