The working relationship between WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling remains strong, with crossover matches happening on a seemingly weekly basis across both NXT and TNA IMPACT.

However, any plans for a full scale NXT vs. TNA ‘Worlds Collide’ premium live event are not currently a priority for NXT head Shawn Michaels, with Michaels saying the following about the idea during an appearance on the Ringer Wrestling Show:

“Well look, I think obviously those things are possible (big blow off match or Worlds Collide event with TNA) but I will say, I look at this and hope that it is a long-standing relationship. In my personal opinion, I feel sometimes that if you go to those types of things too soon, oh, now you’ve gone through it and where do you go from there? So, right now, we’re enjoying this partnership. I think we’re enjoying very different matchups than we thought we’d be able to see here, in just a short amount of time. So, obviously excited about the future, excited about that relationship. I will say nothing’s ever off the table here in the WWE. Certainly in NXT. But I think, you know, we wanna go slower as opposed to faster,” said Michaels.

There have been three standalone Worlds Collide events in WWE in 2019, 2020, and 2022, with the shows pitting NXT vs. NXT UK. The inaugural edition also featured the wrestlers of 205 Live.

Historically, the (When) Worlds Collide name is linked with the 1994 Lucha Libre AAA show - heralded as one of the greatest wrestling events of all time. The show featured the stars of AAA and the International Wrestling Council, and was part-produced by WCW. WCW were sued over the show by ECW who had also ran a When Worlds Collide show in 1994.
