Nia Jax & Other WWE Releases Reportedly Let Go Due To COVID-19 Vaccination Status

A number of recent WWE releases, including Nia Jax, were reportedly let go from the company in part because they were openly unvaccinated against COVID-19.

WWE conducted another round of releases across the main roster and NXT 2.0 on Thursday as the likes of Karrion Kross, Keith Lee, Scarlett, Ember Moon and Franky Monet - among others - parted ways with the promotion.

The New York Post has since reported that a part of the reason some of the names had been released is because they were unvaccinated against coronavirus, naming Nia Jax as one of the individuals who had not received vaccine doses against COVID-19.

Fightful Select have corroborated the report, with sources indicating that at least five of the names who were released on Thursday were 'openly unvaccinated' against COVID-19.

It was stressed that the unvaccinated status of these names was not the sole reason behind their departures from WWE, but the situation did play a role in the decision.

It has been noted that WWE are within their legal rights to release talent for not being vaccinated. Not receiving the COVID-19 vaccine would have restricted performer's abilities to compete in numerous venues across the United States and stopped them from being able to be involved in international tours to many countries across the world.

WWE's latest round of releases came on a day in which the company announced the financial results for their Third Quarter 2021, achieving 'better than expected' revenue of $255.8 million.
