New Women's Tag Team Champions Crowned On September 20 WWE Raw
A new pair of champions!
Sep 21, 2021
Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H are the new WWE Women's Tag team champions, after defeating Natalya and Tamina on Monday's episode of WWE Raw in Raleigh.
For the finish, Natalya was attempting to lock Nikki in the Sharpshooter, but was distracted by Ripley planting Tamina with the Riptide outside the ring. Due to the distraction, Nikki cradled Natalya and pinned her to win the match.
The match marked the first time the WWE Women's Tag Team titles had been defended on television in four months. The last title defence occurred on May 24, when Natalya and Tamina retained the belts over Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Since then, Natalya and Tamina lost two different "contenders" matches to Nox and Shotzi, with no further story resolution.
Natalya and Tamina's reign ends at 129 days, the second longest in the titles' history, behind only the Kabuki Warriors' 2019-20 reign.
For Ripley, it's her first reign as Women's Tag Team champion. For Nikki, it's her third reign, having held the titles twice previously with Alexa Bliss in 2019 and 2020.
