The road to the Money in the Bank 2023 PPV in London, England has been laying the groundwork for the event, with WWE running with the qualifying gimmick for this year’s show rather than simply just announcing the ladder match participants. On the most recent edition of SmackDown, two wrestlers were added to the field.

On the women’s side, Zelina Vega bounced back from her defeat to Rhea Ripley at the Backlash PPV with a big victory over Lacey Evans to earn her spot in the ladder match. Later in the night, LA Knight overcame Montez Ford to earn a spot in the men’s ladder match, and he proceeded to show the world that he knows the rules of the match by climbing a ladder and posing with the briefcase suspended above the ring.

With these two victories, the women’s ladder match begins to properly take shape with Vega the first official participant, whereas Knight gets added to a field which already includes Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura, who both earned their places in the match on Monday Night Raw.
