Mickie James feels WWE's attempt to put on an all-women's pay-per-view in 2018 was 'almost set up to fail' by the company.

WWE presented Evolution in October 2018 and was the first show put on by the promotion that featured women-only matches on the card. James competed in the opening match of the night, teaming with Alicia Fox to take on WWE Hall Of Famers Lita and Trish Stratus.

The night of action, which featured a Last Woman Standing Match between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch and was main-evented by Nikki Bella versus Rounda Rousey, was highly praised by fans.

However, James says WWE will not do another all-women's event because, when she brought up the idea of a second Evolution show, she was told that it was the lowest-rated WWE pay-per-view of all time in terms of buy-rate.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Wrestling Inc. Daily, James said: “It was only really promoted for a month. The matches weren’t even announced but a week or two before. There was zero promotion or marketing.

“It was almost set up to fail. If there was as much energy and focus put into it as perhaps some of the other events, and made and highlighted how monumental this actually is, perhaps that wouldn’t be true.”

Since leaving WWE in April, Mickie James has announced she is putting on her own all-female show with the National Wrestling Alliance. NWA EmPowerrr is set to take place on Saturday, August 28th.
