Matt Cardona Defends His 'Memorable' 1-Day Run As WWE Intercontinental Champion
Cardona held the Title for one day in 2016

Matt Cardona has defended his one-day run as WWE Intercontinental Champion, saying his stint with the Title was memorable because of how short it was.
Then known as Zack Ryder, Cardona won the Intercontinental Title in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania 32 in 2016. He had been a late replacement for the injured Neville but delighted fans across the world by winning the Championship.
Just 24 hours later, however, Ryder would drop the Title to The Miz in an impromptu Championship bout on Monday Night Raw.
Cardona, reflecting on the win, does not think his run as Champion would have been nearly as memorable had he just held it for a couple of months.
Responding to a fan enquiry on Twitter about if he knew his Intercontinental Title run would be so short before it started, he said: "I did know. And I disagree with you…the reason the moment was so great and memorable is because it was only for 1 day. That was my story.
"Who would have cared if I would have lost it 2 months later at In Your House?"
