Former WWE star Lance Storm has taken to Twitter to make the case for Cyndi Lauper's induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Lauper, best known for hit singles like 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun', 'Time After Time' and 'True Colours', was a major factor in the company's exploding popularity during the mid-80's.

The singer's star power and connection to MTV helped increase wrestling's mainstream appeal.

She appeared many times on WWE television and was a major presence at the first WrestleMania, accompanying Wendi Richter to ringside as Richter defeated Leilani Kai for the Women's Championship.

In a multi-part thread, Storm outlined his belief that Lauper should be inducted into the Hall of Fame and deserves the honour ahead of other wrestlers, such as himself.

"@cyndilauper does not deserve to be in the Celebrity wing of the WWE HOF. She deserves to be a full fledged HOF member. She was a pro wrestling manager and her popularity and MTV tie in played a huge role in the success of the Rock & Wrestling Connection…

"Cyndi helped change the business. She is much more deserving of this honor than I am, and many other full time wrestlers. If you remove Cyndi from wrestling history things would change a lot. I was in high school back then and MTV was gigantic and so was Cyndi…

"She was giving the WWF the rub, not the other way around. If you remove me from wrestling history, you lose a bunch of good to great matches, and possibly the rolling 1/2 crab. The best dropkick discussion is also one name shorter. Cyndi for the Real HOF. Yes, same goes for Mr T."

Lauper last appeared for WWE in June of 2012 when she participated in a segment alongside Richter, Layla, Roddy Piper and Heath Slater.
