Kurt Angle: WWE Would Have 'Jobbed Me Out For The Whole Year' If I Postponed Retirement
Angle retired in 2019

Kurt Angle has revealed he turned down an offer from Vince McMahon to postpone his retirement, saying he knew the company wanted to 'job him out' for a year.
Angle wrestled his final match at WWE WrestleMania 35, in defeat to Baron Corbin, but has made it publicly known his dream final match would have been to face John Cena one more time.
When broaching the idea with McMahon, Angle was told that it wasn't possible for WrestleMania 35, but the match could happen at WrestleMania 36 if the WWE Hall Of Famer postponed his retirement.
Angle wasn't willing to do so, however.
Speaking on the live Talk Is Jericho Podcast episode recorded on Chris Jericho's most recent cruise event, Angle revealed: "Vince [McMahon] said, ‘Well Kurt, you can do that next year.’ I was like, ‘Vince, I’m retiring this year.’ He said, ‘Well if you wait another year, I could do that for you.’
"I said, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it this year’ because there was no way in hell I was gonna wrestle another year especially in WWE because all they were gonna do was job me out for the whole year so, I knew — I could see the writing on the wall and I didn’t know if I wanted to be a part of that."
