Jordan Devlin Returns To WWE TV
Who the undisputed Cruiserweight Champion is remains to be seen...
Oct 16, 2020
Jordan Devlin last competed on WWE TV back on the March 26 episode of NXT UK when he defeated Travis Banks to retain the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. He has been unable to defend the title on either NXT or NXT UK since then, though, because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and a second Cruiserweight Champion in Santos Escobar was crowned in June.
NXT UK returned on September 17 and The Irish Ace made his presence felt on last night's show as he declared he was the true NXT Cruiserweight Champion and the best professional wrestler on the planet.
Santos Escobar didn't take too kindly to Devlin's promo, as he tweeted: "Ok... since we're quoting... lemme quote a more credited source: 'Every bit of that #WWENXT Cruiserweight Championship was about seizing opportunity. Congratulations to @EscobarWWE... a division changing talent and it's STILL ALL his. #NXTTakeOver' -@TripleH."
This was the first time Devlin has appeared on WWE TV since he was accused of physically abusing a woman named Hannah during the Speaking Out movement. WWE stated they were taking the allegations very seriously and looking into the matter at the time. Devlin later said the allegation was "completely and utterly false" and was part of a "malicious personal agenda" against him.
