WWE NXT presented a barnburner of a main-event on Tuesday evening as Karrion Kross defended the NXT Championship against Johnny Gargano.

With Samoa Joe as the special guest referee, Kross and Gargano put on a fantastic showing at the Capitol Wrestling Center that ended with the reigning Champion definitively putting his challenger away, before then turning his attention to Joe.

Earlier in the bout there was a nasty looking spot that drew concern from the fans in attendance and on social media. Kross threw Gargano towards the commentary table at ringside but, rather than landing flat on it or going over the table, Gargano's back went straight into the edge of the furniture.

While the incident looked particularly painful, and led to some worry about Gargano's condition from the WWE Universe, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select is reporting that Gargano was 'fine' in the immediate aftermath of the bout on NXT.

Having been defeated by Kross in his pursuit of the NXT Championship, it remains to be seen what is next for Gargano and The Way.
