Johnny Gargano: Having Fans At WWE NXT Shows Again Could Make The Way Babyfaces

Johnny Gargano has admitted the return of fans to WWE NXT shows in the near future could see The Way turned into babyfaces.

Gargano has worked as a heel throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic era in WWE and aligned with Austin Theory, Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell to form The Way towards the end of 2020.

While the faction are presented as heels, their comedic skits and interactions, as well as Gargano's ability in the ring, have seen them get a positive response from some fans that are being permitted into the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center to watch the black-and-gold brand.

Speaking to TV Insider, when it was pointed out that The Way are veering towards being crowd favourites, Gargano said: "That is the big changing factor, that we have fans again. The whole time The Way has been a unit and I’ve been heel, we haven’t had fans. I think especially our fans are very appreciative of guys like me who have sacrificed years of their blood, sweat and tears for this brand.

"Factor in all of The Way as an act, I think we are very entertaining and there’s nothing like us on the show. Austin and I are out there as kind of this father-son duo. Who is going to boo that? People love headbands, so you have a lot of things going for us."
