This isn't the first comment he's made...

This week, Monday Night Raw was broadcast live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for the first time in over a month. Jerry "The King" Lawler also returned to the commentary table alongside Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton.

Lawler has been under fire since the episode aired, however. While commentating on a match between Austin Theory and Akira Tozawa, King called a Senton from the former Cruiserweight Champion the "Ramen Noodle Moonsault."

This isn't the first time Lawler has made a racist comment on commentary about a Japanese Superstar. Back in February, he said Kairi Sane looked like she had eaten day old sushi, and he has repeatedly referred to The Pirate Princess and Asuka as Kabuki Warrior number one or two.

The Raw announcer's latest remark seems to have been the final straw for many, however. Numerous fans have criticised Lawler on social media, with many noting that what he said may have been acceptable back in the 1990s, but it was not appropriate in 2020.

WWE has taken measures to remove the line from Raw as it has been edited out of the Hulu version of the company's flagship show.

Lawler himself is yet to comment on the controversy, but he did like a tweet which said he wasn't a racist.
