At the Royal Rumble, Drew McIntyre cemented himself as one of WWE's top stars by first eliminating Brock Lesnar and then winning the Men's Royal Rumble match. The Scottish Psychopath then challenged Lesnar to a match at WrestleMania 36, which many have tipped to be the main event of The Showcase Of The Immortals.

McIntyre's Royal Rumble victory came on the back of a renewed push as a babyface in recent weeks. The former Intercontinental Champion has interacted more positively with the crowd during promos and has gotten over with his "3-2-1" countdown before hitting his opponents with the Claymore Kick.

Jerry "The King" Lawler appeared on the most recent episode of The Steve Austin Show

in which he and Stone Cold agreed that McIntyre could be "the guy" in WWE. During the interview, Lawler explained that WWE has been trying to find the new John Cena for a number of years, and while Roman Reigns is popular, he is not on the level of Cena or other top stars before him. However, from spending time around McIntyre, the Raw commentator believes he could be the next top star in WWE that can carry the company during the next decade.

Lawler said: "I think he can be the guy, and we all know that they've been looking for somebody since John Cena and they’ve tried so hard with Roman Reigns, and of course Roman is over big…But he's not a John Cena, he's not a Stone Cold Steve Austin, he's not a Rock yet. And they're looking for that type of personality and I really think just in being around him and watching him, he looks fantastic, I really think he could be the guy."
