Jake Atlas has commented on his WWE release and admitted he is now looking forward to doing things his way.
The former NXT Superstar was let go by WWE on August 6 during a SmackDown taping along with the likes of Bronson Reed, Ari Sterling, Tyler Rust and Mercedes Martinez.
Reflecting on his release, Atlas tweeted: "For 5 years, I worked hard to play the game the way I thought they would have wanted me to. If in that time I was able to accomplish all that I have with a limited understanding of who & what 'Jake Atlas' is, imagine what I'm capable of doing now that I get to do it MY way."
Atlas also confirmed he has a 30-day non-compete clause, similar to past NXT releases.
After being given a brand ambassador role by Stephanie McMahon on Undercover Boss, Atlas would officially sign with WWE in October 2019. He made his debut at a January 2020 NXT house show and appeared on TV for the first time a few months later in a loss to Dexter Lumis.
Following the match, Atlas would split his time between NXT and 205 Live. He was recently involved in the storyline between LA Knight and Cameron Grimes and Atlas defeated the Million Dollar Champion on June 1.
