WWE’s Day 1 PPV saw Drew McIntyre defeat Madcap Moss, before Moss and Happy Corbin attacked the former WWE Champion backstage, with WWE stating that McIntyre had ‘suffered a cervical neck strain with severe contusions’.

Now, a report from Fightful Select has revealed that WWE orchestrated the angle to write McIntyre off of TV and to ‘cover for a legit injury to Drew McIntyre, one that he's been dealing with for quite a while’. No details have been revealed as to the specific nature of McIntyre’s injury or an official diagnosis, but it is believed McIntyre is dealing with ongoing neck issues.

Reports from PWInsider state that McIntyre is not believed to be facing a long spell on the sidelines, but until he gets medically assessed it's "up in the air," according to one source.

McIntyre’s injury comes as little surprise to many, with Drew reportedly working multiple matches per night during WWE’s recent live event tour, with one person telling PWInsider that McIntyre "went down swinging” for the company.
