After the 2022 Royal Rumble, it emerged that Shane McMahon had rubbed many members of WWE the wrong way due to his conduct and self-involved booking during the 30-man match, with McMahon let go by the company shortly after.
McMahon has not been seen on WWE TV since, with a rumoured appearance at Elimination Chamber 2022 scrapped. Despite this, a new document filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission on January 11 revealed that McMahon "received an aggregate of approximately $828,000” and seemingly remained with WWE as an "independent contractor performer” through the year.
McMahon’s total WWE earnings in 2022 were reportedly higher than his 2020 earnings with the company, but lower than his total WWE earnings in 2021. McMahon’s 2021 earnings will have been boosted due to wrestling a match at WrestleMania 37, where Shane-o-Mac took on Braun Strowman in a Steel Cage Match on Night One of the two-night event.
With Vince McMahon recently returning to WWE and Stephanie McMahon leaving, it remains to be seen if ‘The Boy Wonder’ himself will return in some capacity.
