On last night's episode of NXT, Finn Balor defeated Cameron Grimes and set his sights on Keith Lee's North American Championship, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish were revealed to be safe after they were kidnapped by Dexter Lumis on Sunday, and Scarlett left an hourglass for Adam Cole, signalling the end of his title reign.

NXT Cruiserweight Champion El Hijo Del Fantasma also turned heel last night. The former Lucha Underground star opened the segment with an in-ring promo with Drake Maverick. Spud told Fantasma he deserved to win the title but that he knows deep down he can beat the Cruiserweight Champion and challenged him to a match sometime down the line. Fantasma accepted the challenge in Spanish, but before they could shake hands, the luchadors that have plagued the former King Cuerno headed to the ring. As Maverick prepared to fight back, Fantasma smiled, attacked the Brit from behind, and invited the luchadors to join him in beating Drake down.

With Maverick prone in the centre of the ring, the luchadors removed their masks, revealing themselves as Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza. Fantasma then took off his own mask and declared his name was Santos Escobar and he is your NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
