Former WWE Writer Reveals Why He Was Furious About The Tribal Combat Match At SummerSlam
A former WWE writer wasn't very impressed by Jey Uso vs. Roman Reigns at WWE SummerSlam

The long-running issues between Jey Uso and Roman Reigns came to a head at SummerSlam as Jey challenged his cousin to a Tribal Combat Match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. The whole point of the match was that it wouldn't include interference, with that even being a stipulation of the No DQ match.
The no-interference stipulation was promptly ignored by WWE, though, and Solo Sikoa first got involved in the main event of SummerSlam before Jimmy Uso would betray Jey and cost him the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, handing the victory to Roman Reigns in the process.
Many on social media pointed to the Tribal Combat Match as just the latest example of WWE ignoring their own rules and stipulations and former WWE writer and Hollywood star Freddie Prinze Jr. admitted he was "p****d off" about the SummerSlam main event.
"Tribal Combat was a lie. [A] farce, a complete fallacy, and I'm p****d off about it. What the hell is a Tribal Combat? I thought these guys were going to come out, Wakanda style, with like a kendo stick, I don't know if Samoans have shields, but if they do, Samoan shields, and they whip each other's ass until the kendo sticks broke, and then bash each other with a shield until that breaks. And then when there's nothing left, they just fight. No one's allowed to interfere, [yet] two people interfere. I didn't feel a lot of Samoan culture in the match, which was just kind of weird to me. And I'm not trying to say it in a woke way, I'm just... it was basically a [No DQ] match," Prinze said on his Wrestling with Freddie podcast.
The closing angle of Jimmy turning on his brother has been widely criticised. The latest issues in The Bloodline will play out on tonight's edition of SmackDown in a 'Hail to the Chief' segment with Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso.
