A report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider claims that a former WWE Women's champion is expected to return to company programming over the next week.
Melina Perez has come to terms on a return to WWE, according to the report. WWE had attempted to book Melina for the 2020 Women's Royal Rumble match, but was unable to do so due to her deal with the NWA.
Melina last wrestled for the NWA earlier this year, but her agreement with them has since expired.
It's not clear which brand Melina will be performing on when she returns.
She had been part of WWE's roster from the spring of 2005, up until her release in the summer of 2011. Melina debuted as the manager of the tag team MNM, which then-boyfriend John Morrison was a member of.
In her six years on WWE's main roster, Melina won the old version of the Women's title on three occasions, and held the Divas title twice. Since her WWE release, Melina appeared sporadically for a number of independent promotions, and made a guest appearance on last year's Raw Reunion special.
