Professional footballer Adebayo Akinfenwa has confirmed he has held talks with WWE about a potential move into wrestling.

Akinfenwa is one of the most recognisable football players in England because of his immense strength and size. The 38-year-old currently plays for Championship side Wycombe Wanderers, having spent the majority of his two-decade professional career in League One and League Two, the third and fourth highest divisions, respectively.

The striker has previously discussed a potential move to Vince McMahon's promotion and now, having indicated he feels he has a year left of playing football, has admitted to talks with WWE about becoming a wrestler.

Akinfenwa also revealed there had been conversations about entering the world of Hollywood.

Speaking to Callum McGinley, aka 'Callux', on the UMM YouTube channel, Akinfenwa said: "I don't want to be a manager, I don't want to be a coach. I've given two decades to football. I'm 39 next month. I'm at the transitional stage.

"Exclusive out here, I think I'm going to play on one more year. Then look, you know what, it's funny. We're talking to a couple of producers in LA, there's a couple of movie projects.

"Then also, there are also talks with WWE. I reckon I'd be a good wrestler. I've always been able to live my life where nobody has put me in a box, so that's how it is, I'm excited for the future."
