An earthquake has been felt by residents in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ahead of WWE WrestleMania 40.
The United States Geological Survey has reported that a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck in Hunterdon County, New Jersey at 10:23 am ET on Friday. The earthquake was felt as far away as Philadelphia, New York City, Connecticut and other parts of New Jersey.
An earthquake in the North East of the United States is a rarity but the quake left buildings rattling in New York City and briefly paused a UN Security Council meeting on Gaza. BBC noted there are no reports of major damage.
WWE holds WrestleMania 40 this weekend at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field. Many fans planning to attend the event are already in the city checking out the World at WrestleMania festivities from the Philadelphia Convention Center and going to independent wrestling events across the city.
WWE have a number of surprises lined up for WrestleMania, including multiple legends at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Pro wrestling and earthquakes do have a short history together. A 7.2 magnitude earthquake interrupted an NJPW New Japan Cup show in 2021, while John Tenta wrestled as Earthquake in WWE.
