Damian Priest Avoids Injury At WWE Clash At The Castle
Good news for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Jun 17, 2024
Clash at the Castle was a big night for Damian Priest, as he (with a little help from CM Punk) retained his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre in the show's main event.
There was one major hiccup during the bout, however, when Priest attempted a step-up flip dive to the outside using the middle rope as a springboard. The upshot was he ended up hanging upside down and tangled in the ropes, with some fearing he had sustained an injury due to the mishap.
Fortunately, that does not seem to be the case. According to a report from Fightful Select, The Archer of Infamy came out of the match unscathed and was just effectively selling during the match. The report added that Priest received a lot of praise backstage for his overall performance at Clash at the Castle.
At the post-show press conference, Priest had this to say about how his knee was feeling following the match:
"It feels like trash now. I didn't even go to medical yet so I could do this and answer your questions so you're welcome. Docs will check it out but I mean, I ain't going anywhere. I was able to beat Drew McIntyre with one foot, so I’m pretty sure I'm all good to go".
Later on, Paul 'Triple H' Levesque added:
"I'm really hoping when I leave here I'm gonna get good news because while he is walking around okay now, I'm sure adrenaline is carrying him through that. There is such a fine line between what we do being safe and what we do not being safe".
Priest recently signed a new WWE deal, with negotiations reportedly going down to the wire.
