Dakota Kai Was Contacted Hours Before WWE SummerSlam, Arrived During The Show

Though she is currently out of action (after tearing her ACL on the May 12 episode of SmackDown), Dakota Kai was on hand to watch her Damage CTRL teammate IYO SKY win the WWE Women's Championship at SummerSlam.

Dakota emerged after SKY cashed-in her Money in the Bank contract on Bianca Belair, who had herself just defeated Asuka and Charlotte Flair to win the title.

Speaking about the surprise appearance on Twitch, Kai noted that it was a last-minute decision and she just barely made it to Ford Field in time.

"It's my sleep in day. I'm gonna chill, not even gonna set my alarm. My phone was on 'Do Not Disturb'...I wake up, my phone is blowing up. My anxiety was just through the roof, I saw all of these missed calls, all these texts...and [Bayley's] like 'We need you here!'" she said.

Kai noted that there was only one flight (by Spirit Airlines, an airline she had never flown with before) that would get her to Detroit in enough time. After a delay due to a mechanical issue, she managed to land in the Motor City during the show.

"Whatever match was after Shayna and Ronda, we landed. And thank goodness, they sent car service to come and get me and then they also had a makeup lady in the car... yes, lucky [SKY winning the title] was semi-main because I definitely wouldn't have made it, I don't think," she added.

Kai mentioned during the post-SummerSlam press conference that she was still a while away from returning from her injury.
