During All Elite Wrestling's fairly-brief existence so far, stars of the promotion have offered very candid takes on WWE, particularly those who used to work there.

Jon Moxley, Jake Hager, and Chris Jericho, to name a few, have spoken bluntly in interviews about some of the displeasure they had with their former employer, while holding AEW up as a marked improvement.

Cody Rhodes took a swipe at the template of WWE (without naming them) on this week's Dynamite, while Jim Ross got in

a pretty emphatic dunk on Seth Rollins

through his Grilling JR podcast yesterday.

In the eyes of CM Punk, AEW should cool it with the jabs.

The former WWE champion (who himself has pulled no punches about the company in past interviews) spoke about the current state of wrestling in an interview with

Screen Rant,

while promoting his movie Girl on The Third Floor. He believes AEW doesn't need to go the route of bashing their rival.

"Yeah. I think AEW needs to focus on themselves and stop talking about WWE," offered Punk. "Cody and The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, Jon Moxley, all those guys have something great going on. I just think it lessens and cheapens what they are doing when they constantly attack WWE.

"There hasn't been an alternative to WWE in so very long, and I think they do a disservice to themselves when they're trying to be the alternative but constantly bring up WWE. But I understand, when people ask you the questions during the interviews you have to answer them. But that's just part of life. You have to learn how to navigate that. I would like them to just try to focus on their product and building it up and making it better. I think that would benefit all the fans."
