Chris Jericho Doesn't Foresee WWE Granting Talent Their Releases Ever Again
It's a competitive world...
Aug 26, 2019
Ever since All Elite Wrestling came into existence at the dawn of 2019, quite a few stories have emerged regarding reportedly-unhappy WWE talents seeking their releases from the company. The Revival, Sasha Banks, Luke Harper, and others have reportedly asked out of WWE, only to be turned down.
AEW headliner Chris Jericho sees this as the new norm.
Jericho spoke with
Busted Open Radioabout the current state of the business, and cited Shawn Spears (the former Tye Dillinger) as an example of what he feels is the final wave of wrestlers that WWE will agree to cut loose.
Said Jericho of Spears, "I don't know why he sat on the sidelines for eight months. I don't know why a lot of guys sit on the sidelines for eight months. But you know how it works up North, brother. If you fall out of grace, you're finished being played with as Vince's toy, you get put in the corner. Thankfully, Shawn got his release. He's the last one that will.
"Nobody will ever get their release from WWE again. Nobody."
Jericho went on to put Spears over, citing how well Cody Rhodes (Spears' longtime friend) knows his capabilities, adding, "The guy is a tremendous heel. He's an old school heel. He looks the part. Putting him with Tully Blanchard is a great idea. He's a main eventer. We're going to make him into a star, just by putting him with Cody Rhodes."
