Charlotte Flair Comments On Being A Babyface In WWE
Charlotte Flair Has Given Her Thoughts On Being A Babyface Character In WWE
Mar 5, 2023
Charlotte Flair returned to WWE in December 2022 after a seven month absence from the company. Although she left as a cocky, arrogant, and entitled heel, she returned as a more upbeat and smiling babyface, taking up this role for the first time in a while.
Fans have discussed tirelessly about whether Flair is naturally better as a babyface or heel, and recently she has had her own say on the discourse. When talking on The Dan LeBatard Show, Flair went into her mentality when it comes to playing both a good guy and a bad guy:
“Now, my mindset is I’m not a good guy, I’m not a bad guy. I’m just the woman. I spent so many years trying to get people to boo me, and now with the reception from the fans and them being so excited to see me, I try not to overthink it. I think they want to see me be arrogant now. They want to cheer that. They don’t want me to be corny, they want me to be me. It’s more of a respect thing because of everything I’ve done in the industry.”
Flair would also talk about the fact that it can be hard to root for her based on her background, stating: “For my experience, my dad is Ric Flair. I come from a legacy. I’m bigger, faster, stronger. It’s hard to be like, ‘Like me, I’m relatable.’ How do you say that humbly?”
As of right now, Flair is still ruling WWE SmackDown as the number one babyface in the women’s division, reigning as SmackDown Women’s Champion. Her reactions are still quite strong ahead of her WrestleMania 39 clash with Rhea Ripley.
