Brogan Finlay Makes WWE NXT Debut, Renamed Uriah Connors
Uriah Connors debuts on WWE NXT
Mar 6, 2024
A third-generation wrestler has been given their WWE name and they won't be following in the footsteps of their grandfather, father, and brother.
Brogan Finlay, the son of former WWE wrestler and now Performance Center coach Fit Finlay and brother of NJPW's David Finlay, made his WWE NXT TV debut on Tuesday night, facing Shawn Spears at Roadblock. Finlay has been renamed Uriah Connors, however, and that is the name he will be using going forward on WWE NXT.
Connors suffered a quick loss to Shawn Spears, who made his return to WWE last week.
Uriah was an unpopular name for much of the 20th century after enjoying a spell of popularity during the 1800s. The name has come somewhat back into fashion in recent years. Famous people called Uriah include former Premier League referee Uriah Rennie.
Connors signed with WWE following a tryout at the WWE Performance Center in 2023. He made his WWE debut in January in an NXT house show loss to Charlie Dempsey. Before signing with the company, Finlay performed for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and on the independent wrestling scene.
Two other recent WWE signings have received new names. Jay Malachi was renamed Je'Von Evans while Lucky Ali has been given the moniker of Saquon Shugars.
