Brandi Rhodes signed with WWE all the way back in 2011 following a tryout, but following just one FCW match she became a valet. It wasn’t long, though, until she was thrust into another role as a ring announcer - a role that would take her through the ranks and up to the main roster eventually under the name of “Eden”. She would ring announce in NXT, SmackDown, Raw, and even at WrestleMania.

Rhodes has made it clear over the years that she doesn’t ever want to get back into announcing, but she recently revealed how that path opened up for her in WWE, and it was far simpler than you’d think, as she decided to try it out on a whim in an interview with Ring The Belle.

"I poked somebody and was like, 'What's ring announcing?' They were like, 'Oh, it's really annoying — you have to get into the ring and it's really nerve-wracking; you have to remember all these things.' I was like, 'I'd like to try it.

"I got called up on the road two weeks after that, so I was in FCW for I think a month. And then I got called up on the road and I was fully announcing. When I got called to TV, it was a 'Raw.' I had no idea what I was going to be doing, because I had been working there so short. I was like, 'Please, God — don't be wrestling,' because I barely knew how to take a bump."

She would request her release in 2016, following husband Cody Rhodes out of the company. She would then become both a manager and in-ring performer over the years, also having backstage roles in AEW too.
