Big E will not require surgery after suffering a broken neck during a tag team match last night on WWE SmackDown.
In a video posted to his social media on Saturday, E gave a clearer update on the nature of his injury.
"So I got some really good news, all things considered. The C1 and C6 are indeed fractured, non-displacement though, which is a good thing," Big E said. "I don't have any damage to my spinal cord. No ligament damage and no surgery, which I'm very thankful for."
The New Day member jokingly added that if you're going to break your neck, do it in Birmingham, AL, crediting the medical staffers for being great. He also thanked all the well-wishers for their support and kind words.
While teaming with Kofi Kingston against Sheamus and Ridge Holland on Friday's SmackDown, Big E took an overhead belly to belly from Holland outside the ring. While going over to complete the move, Big E didn't get the necessary rotation, and landed squarely on his head.
After the match, Big E was stretchered out of the ringside area, though was able to give a thumbs up to the fans on the way out.
