It it has been a big weekend for both WWE & AEW, as both the All Out 2025 and Wrestlepalooza 2025 premium live events took place last night. There is plenty of fallout as the rumour mill continues to turn, with the biggest reports including the reasoning for the selected Wrestlepalooza main event, potential plans for a brand new faction in AEW, and why a particular feud and match ended up taking place at All Out.

The main event of Wrestlepalooza 2025 was contested between Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, though this was not always the plan. Per Fightful Select, Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena was originally slated to close out the premium live event, but this match instead ended up opening the show. This wasn’t a case of Lesnar wanting to catch the earliest flight home.

According to Fightful Select, the decision to have Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre in the closing spot was made by ESPN - the new home of WWE’s premium live events in the US. It is noted that ESPN felt that having the WWE Championship in the main event was important, wanting the “pomp and circumstance” of a title match being the headliner as opposed to a singles match with no stakes.

Potential AEW Plans For Mercedes Moné's New Faction

AEW have tried out allies for TBS Champion Mercedes Moné before in the form of a bodyguard in Kamille, though this was short-lived. However, Moné could be soon set for some more allies as her TBS Title reign continues after a successful defence at the AEW All Out 2025 PPV over challenger Riho.

Following on from Robyn Renegade aiding Mercedes Moné in an ambush on Riho at AEW September To Remember, Fightful Select have reported that there is some traction on The Renegade sisters being integrated as a part of Mercedes Moné’s act. It is said that rumblings of this have been going on for some time, with months of pitches.

The Hurt Syndicate battled the newly formed trio of Ricochet and Gates Of Agony at AEW All Out 2025, following on from weeks of feuding that started thanks to the trio costing Shelton Benjamin & Bobby Lashley the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Fightful Select have revealed one of the potential reasons why this feud took place, and it is due to MVP being a fan of Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun of Gates Of Agony.

It is said that MVP specifically eyed up working with the pairing, and sees big things for them in AEW. When it comes to MVP returning to the ring at All Out, it is also said that he was excited to work with the tag team. Gates Of Agony have been featured more heavily on AEW programming as of late, and alongside Ricochet they defeated The Hurt Syndicate at All Out.

Why WWE Canceled Wrestlepalooza World Title Match
Tiffany Stratton with WWE Women's Title in January 2025

There were rumblings over the last week that WWE were set to announce Tiffany Stratton vs. Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax to the 2025 Wrestlepalooza card, as all three women were spotted on advertising material and merchandise. However, Stratton’s recent injury put this match into question. On SmackDown this past week, WWE announced that this triple threat match would take place on next week’s SmackDown when the blue brand heads to Orlando, Florida. This has nothing to do with Stratton’s injury.

PWInsider have reported that WWE’s reasoning for delaying the title match is actually due to WWE making the decision to not overly stack the Wrestlepalooza premium live event match card.
