Update on Rumours Of Shane McMahon Reaching Out To AEW

It couldn’t happen could it? Well, famously anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling, even the possibility of Shane McMahon entering All Elite Wrestling.

Reports this week suggested that Shane O’Mac had ‘reached out’ to some within AEW about the hypothetical possibility of working together in some capacity. Dave Meltzer shed some more light on the situation in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, stating that ‘a number of people on both sides high up on the food chain’ had heard nothing about Shane reaching out, with others saying they’d only heard what Conrad Thompson had stated about the situation on his podcast with Jim Ross.

Meltzer further states that one version of events suggests that McMahon had a conversation with an ex-WWE star currently in AEW along the lines of “can you imagine if I walked out there on Dynamite” rather than McMahon making a serious pitch to join the company.

AEW President Tony Khan stated to Meltzer that he’d “never met him [McMahon] or talked to him in my life”, and even if AEW and McMahon were hypothetically to talk about working together, then according to Meltzer, McMahon would ‘likely to want to leverage AEW to get a deal from Nick Khan’.

Although TKO have distanced themselves from the family in the wake of Vince McMahon’s ousting due to the Janel Grant lawsuit, Stephanie McMahon was prominently featured at WrestleMania XL in April.
