Tony Khan: AEW Will Have No Shortage Of Debuts At The Rate WWE Are Releasing Talent
AEW keeps scooping up the talent
Nov 9, 2021
Tony Khan says he won't have any shortage of people to debut in All Elite Wrestling in the coming months thanks to the rate that WWE are 'letting big stars go'.
WWE made anther 18 cuts to their talent roster last week with names such as Keith Lee, Karrion Kross, Ember Moon and many others being released from the promotion.
On the other side, AEW have made the most of talent departing WWE, bringing in a host of huge names to bolster their roster, although some have claimed that AEW are now in a cycle of simply trying to top the last big debut.
With WWE letting more and more names go, Khan isn't worried.
Speaking during an interview with PW Torch, Khan said: "At the rate they [WWE] are letting big stars go and firing people, I will not have a shortage of people to debut in the months ahead."
Undoubtedly the biggest show for AEW debuts so far has been All Out 2021, where Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and Ruby Soho all made their shock first appearances for the company and, in the case of Danielson and Cole, walked out just moments apart to close the pay-per-view.
Speaking about the decision to have both Cole and Danielson debut at All Out, Khan said: "It was my call to do it and I think it was the right move to give fans that paid for All Out that experience. Since it was the biggest pay-per-view audience we’ve ever had, I wanted to give them the best pay-per-view we’ve ever done.
"That’s generally my philosophy is to do good shows so people will want to watch them. All Out was the most positive feedback we’ve ever had about any show we’ve ever done. It was also the most revenue we’ve ever done of any show we’ve done. I felt it was the right move to load it up and give the fans all these moments.
"The end of the show, with Danielson and Cole debuting, was my call and I think it was the right move."
