While the likes of Comcast, Endeavor, Netflix, and the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund are said to be interested in buying WWE, a surprising organisation in All Elite Wrestling emerged as a potential bidder for the organisation last week. Reports claimed that Shahid and Tony Khan are interested in a merger with WWE and the family could look to partner with a media company to complete any possible deal. An AEW-WWE merger is not considered likely, though, due to Vince McMahon's ego.

Tony Khan addressed the reports of AEW interest in WWE during an appearance on The Maggie and Perloff Show, noting that he is interested in the news and the Khan family have proven they are capable of making significant acquisitions.

"I am interested in the news that there is potentially a sale process and certainly I think we've shown when there are acquisitions and transactions, we're capable of making the big purchases. AEW is my main focus, but certainly when that news is out there, it's very interesting. So stay tuned to AEW Dynamite and stay tuned to AEW Rampage, you never know when I'm going to address something. It's very preliminary to talk about that process. If there is a process there, which it sounds like there may be, I'm interested in being part of it," Khan said.

Talk of WWE being up for sale emerged as Vince McMahon elected himself, Michelle Wilson, and George Barrios to the WWE Board of Directors on January 5, with McMahon then being elected as Executive Chairman only a few days after. The 77-year-old noted he was returning to WWE to pursue a sale and he has since amended the company's bylaws to ensure he is not beholden to the organisation's shareholders and no longer needs their approval to make decisions.

Not only that, but McMahon has reportedly been making suggestions about WWE creative, although Triple H has claimed he retains final say on creative matters.
