Report: WWE Not Expected To React To CM Punk's Reported AEW Debut
WWE plan to carry on as normal
Aug 17, 2021
WWE aren't expected to react to CM Punk's debut in All Elite Wrestling, according to a new report.
It emerged last month that CM Punk was in talks with AEW about an in-ring return and there have been numerous hints and teases that The Straight Edge Superstar will return to professional wrestling during the August 20 edition of Rampage at Chicago's United Center. Who Punk will feud with remains to be seen, but he looks set to face Darby Allin at some point.
Punk's reported debut will be ahead of a busy weekend for his former employers, WWE, and Vince McMahon's company are set to present SummerSlam on August 21 and NXT TakeOver 36 on August 22.
Despite the capacity for Punk's return to steal the headlines, WWE aren't expected to make a reactionary move, according to WrestleVotes.
"Source states to not expect a 'reactionary' move if, more like when, CM Punk shows up on AEW Rampage Friday night, 24 hours prior to WWE's second-biggest show of the year. Time will tell," WrestleVotes tweeted.
WWE have their own big plans for the weekend and the likes of Goldberg, John Cena, Roman Reigns and Sasha Banks will all be in action inside Allegiant Stadium at SummerSlam.
