Report: WWE Believe AEW Are Paying RUSH "Insane Money"
"Insane money" for RUSH from AEW, according to WWE
Jul 28, 2023
Just as his contract was about to expire, RUSH committed his future to All Elite Wrestling, signing a new deal with the promotion. The former ROH World Champion looks set to have a bright future in AEW, with CM Punk already calling RUSH a "collider", signalling he will be featured on AEW Collision.
It emerged ahead of RUSH signing a new AEW deal that there was interest in El Toro Blanco from WWE but AEW made the better money offer and the promotion was willing to outbid WWE. Jose the Assistant, another member of La Faccion Ingobernable, also noted that AEW CEO Tony Khan's care for RUSH's family helped solidify the deal.
In an update, Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE were interested in signing RUSH for NXT with the understanding they would have to make him a much bigger offer than just about anyone featured on the Tuesday night show outside of Gable Steveson. WWE never made an official offer, though, as once they discovered what was on the table from AEW, WWE knew there was no way RUSH was going to jump ship. One person even described Tony Khan's offer as being "insane money."
The length of RUSH's new AEW deal is not fully clear, although Meltzer noted the La Faccion Ingobernable member inked a multi-year contract.
