Report: Why Federación Wrestling Postponed Their Debut Show

Federación Wrestling looks to be finished before the promotion even held their first show. The organisation announced last night their June 19 show had been postponed after top stars like RUSH and Andrade El Idolo pulled out of the event

Federación Wrestling set itself up as a new major player in the Mexican wrestling scene and The Lucha Brothers, Bandido, Rey Horus and Dragon Lee were also advertised for the first show, but the company appears to have always been destined for failure.

Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that the economics of the new company "made no sense." The promotion was "spending big big money" and some talent working the debut show would have received $10,000 while others were set to be paid $7,500. The gate couldn't cover such a high expenditure and the company's decision to sell the event through pay-per-view didn't help matters as the pay-per-view market for the show in Mexico and the United States was low.

TheCubsFan also noted the debut event probably hadn't sold 1,000 tickets at the time of postponement and tickets were said to be very expensive for the Mexico City market. Promotion for the event was also said to be poor.

If Federación Wrestling will run a show in the future remains to be seen, but it appears the promotion will join the long list of other failed Mexican wrestling companies.
