On Sunday at SummerSlam, Dolph Ziggler was defeated by Goldberg in a match that lasted one minute and 50 seconds.

After the devastating loss, Ziggler called Goldberg back down to the ring twice, with the former Universal Champion Spearing The Showoff out of his boots on both occasions.

Following that on this week's Raw, and after faking an injury that allowed him to gain the upper hand initially, Ziggler was defeated by The Miz. Dolph then called The A-Lister back down to the ring after the match, with Miz following in Goldberg's footsteps by delivering his finisher before leaving the ring.

It appears there's a pretty monumental reason behind the pair of conclusive losses for Ziggler as

BodySlam.net

are reporting that there was a "handshake deal" in place between Dolph and Vince McMahon himself that would allow the former World Heavyweight Champion to leave the company to pursue other projects.

However, Ziggler is reportedly still under contract with WWE as Vince would “rather just pay him to stay home.”

For the avoidance of any doubt, here's what

BodySlam

are reporting: "According to a source in WWE that I spoke with this past Monday was supposed to be Dolph Ziggler’s last day with the company. I was told that there was a “handshake deal” in place between Vince McMahon and Dolph Ziggler, and that Vince would let Dolph out of the deal following SummerSlam so that Ziggler could pursue his “other projects.”

"On Monday prior to RAW, Dolph approached Vince McMahon to thank him, however it was then that Vince told Dolph that he could not let him out of his deal, and that he would “rather just pay him to stay home,” the

BodySlam

report continued.

So Dolph wanted to leave WWE and after initially agreeing, Vince McMahon went back on his "handshake deal" and said no? We'll have to wait and see how this one plays out.
