Aleister Black was released by WWE last week alongside Murphy, Braun Strowman, Santana Garrett, Lana and Ruby Riott.

The former NXT Champion could be set for a quick return to the company if some in WWE get their way.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported today that some within the company believe Black was released prematurely by WWE and they are pushing for him to be re-signed. There is a feeling backstage that out of everyone, The Harbinger Of Fury was "cut too soon" and was a victim of broken promises and start/stop creative as opposed to anything he did himself.

If WWE opts to re-sign Black ultimately remains to be seen. He did have big fans within the company, though, most notably Paul Heyman who wanted to build Monday Night Raw around the likes of Black, Murphy, Andrade, Apollo Crews and AOP. Black also amassed a 29-1 record while Heyman was Raw Executive Director and the former NXT Champion was in the conversation to win the 2020 Royal Rumble in the days before the event.

Vince McMahon, on the other hand, reportedly did not understand Black's wrestling style and Black himself has admitted he and the boss "just couldn't nail down what Aleister was on the main roster compared to NXT."
