Running shows in the 1970s and 1980s, Georgia Championship Wrestling is fondly remembered by wrestling fans from the territory days. The promotion hosted the likes of Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Ole Anderson, The Fabulous Freebirds and Dusty Rhodes, but Georgia Championship Wrestling closed it's doors in 1984 after it was purchased by Vince McMahon on what became known as Black Saturday.

Reunion shows have been held since 1984, but the promotion is set to be revived with their October 3 show at the Elks Lodge in Eatonton, Georgia. Andrew Thompson of POST Wrestling recently spoke to Chris Nelms and he admitted they are planning a full-scale revival. Nelms will spearhead the promotion's return alongside Tim Rice and GCW owner Grady Odum.

The group plans to eventually create a territory-style organisation comprised of four to five different promotions and a Georgia Championship with a travelling champion.

Nelms, Rice and Odum are currently looking at broadcasting options and have considered airing the show online or through a local TV station.

Interviews from the October 3 show will be available through the promotion's Facebook page and they plan to upload footage from the event to YouTube in the coming weeks.
