Possible Major Factor In Will Ospreay Choosing AEW Over WWE
More on Will Ospreay's choice between AEW and WWE
Nov 16, 2023
Will Ospreay will find himself as the belle of the wrestling ball at the end of January 2024 when the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion's contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling expires.
There is plenty of interest in Ospreay from WWE, All Elite Wrestling, and TNA but many within AEW expect him to land with the promotion in early 2024.
No contract has been signed as of yet, though, and Ospreay is unable to put pen to paper until next year. This leaves the door open for any company looking to sign the Aerial Assassin but Dave Meltzer has revealed one possible major factor that could make Ospreay lean towards signing with AEW over WWE.
"Tony Khan does have the one thing that he can offer Will (Ospreay) that WWE doesn't have. Money-wise, WWE can outbid him for money I think. Maybe not if Tony really wants him. But the one thing that AEW can do is, they've got Wembley and they've got a world championship, and there's an easy, natural, great storyline. There's a million ways to get to it. And WWE will not make that offer, I don't think. They're not gonna do Wembley this year... well maybe they will, but I don't think so. And moreover, I don't think that they can promise him a world championship," Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio.
AEW All In 2024 is set to take place on August 25 at London's Wembley Stadium. Ospreay was in a headline match at All In earlier this year as he defeated Chris Jericho in front of 72,000 fans.
