A current star in New Japan Pro-Wrestling is interested in challenging Claudio Castagnoli for the ROH World Championship.

Speaking with WrestlingNews.co, Jeff Cobb revealed he would love to go one-on-one with Castagnoli for the belt, noting that he was originally going to receive a title shot before his ROH exit in early 2020.

"Before I left ROH at the end of 2019, I was in line to get another ROH World Championship title shot. So why wouldn't I want to do that again? Who's the champion now, Cesaro? Why not? I'd love to fight him," Cobb stated.

Cobb was previously signed to ROH but left the promotion in 2020 shortly after his contract expired. He signed with New Japan soon after and has been with the company ever since as part of the United Empire. Cobb did recently return to ROH, defeating Mascara Dorada at Final Battle in December 2022.

If an ROH World Title match is out of the question, Cobb is open to challenging Samoa Joe for the ROH World Television Championship.

"Last when I was there, I had the ROH TV Championship, undefeated. I lost it in a multi-man match, which I don't know why management wants to put us in multi-man matches. They make no sense. But I didn't lose, I didn't get a rematch, because the champ at the time was scared I was coming back after him. So in my mind, I'm still the ROH TV Champion. People always compare Samoa Joe to myself, I think that may be a Polynesian thing. But if I want to fight somebody, Samoa Joe is a great person to fight," Cobb added.
