Toru Yano will defend the KOPW 2021 Trophy later this month.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced over the weekend that The Sublime Master Thief will put the KOPW 2021 Trophy on the line in a New Japan Ranbo during the Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome pre-show.

No other participants have been revealed as of yet. Entrants will make their way to the ring at one-minute intervals and the last man in the squared circle will be the KOPW 2021 Provisional Champion.

This will be the second New Japan Ranbo of the year, with the first having taken place on night one of Wrestle Kingdom 15. The match was used to set up a Four-Way for the vacant KOPW 2021 trophy on January 5 and Toru Yano, Chase Owens, Bad Luck Fale and BUSHI were the final four men. Toru Yano went on to win the Four-Way the next night and he has remained provisional champion ever since.

Yano also had success with the KOPW 2020 Trophy and he remained the champion until the end of the year following its introduction in August.

Already announced for Wrestle Grand Slam in Tokyo Dome is Shingo Takagi vs. Kota Ibushi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. This will be Shingo's first defence of the gold since he won the vacant title at Dominion.
